It’s official – the newest addition to the coveted Airstream lineup will be launching April, 2018 according to the manufacturer. The new and “head-turning” Nest will make it’s debut in the Spring of 2018 and will be a most highly anticipated camper if we ever saw one. Actually – we did catch a glimpse of the new design at this year’s RVIA National expo and we have to say – it is pretty special.
Dubbed “Aerodynamic, sophisticated and distinctly modern” (we like the sounds of that), the new Airstream Nest will start out as a 16-foot travel trailer with fibreglass siding – a major departure from Airstream’s signature all aluminum skin like that found on the Airstream Basecamp. As announced back in June, 2017, Airstream decided they needed to appeal to a wider market base. Perhaps something more along the lines of an everyday compact trailer.
What isn’t a departure, as we saw in person at the RVIA show, was the level of exceptional design and attention to detail Airstream is known and revered for. Case in point – six windows in the aft area of the trailer create a seemingly panoramic view, while the main doorway, which is situated at the rear of the trailer, increases the amount of natural light with a vertically elongated skylight. reaching from top to bottom. A nice touch we might add.
Other notable features we can share with you include a two-toned paint job, light weight construction and interior features any Airstream lover would expect.
We’re looking forward to being able to share more than just the exterior with you as April looms closer. For now, the mere thought of continued wanderlust and adventure with a new and revolutionary redesigned Airstream will have to do.
